Let’s just hope it doesn’t look as horrific as this illustration.

 

I think the current S-Class (W221) still looks great.
The next model  (W222) is scheduled to be available as a hybrid only in the US. I guess that’s what we get for not buying diesels…

 

And it seems that most US mercedes dealers hate the idea. Not sure why.
Mercedes already offers the 275hp V6S400 hybrid over here for about $88 000. Which is about $4000 cheaper than the S550 V8. (For once, the hybrid model is actually cheaper.)

 

Hybrids are much more popular than diesels in the US, and Mercedes will have to do something besides selling us the small B Class to meet the new CAFE standards.

    The car in the picture that is presented above is a Tesla Model S Class, or better known as F700, from year 2008. I think the new S will have very little in common with that car !
