The Parktronic System (PTS) operates on the echo-sounding principle.
With help from ultrasound signals that are reflected by obstacles, the electronic system calculates the distance between vehicle and obstacle.
The distance of the car to the obstacle is indicated by lights and sound. The ultrasound parking aid with six sensors in the front bumper and four in the rear assist in driving manoeuvers in tight spaces up to a speed of 10 km/h (6 mph).
