Automotive Brand Contest 2015

Frankfurt/Stuttgart.  Mercedes-Benz design still at the head of the field:  the Stuttgart-based brand recorded a historic success at this year’s Automotive Brand Contest.

With eleven first places in different categories, Mercedes‑Benz was the undisputed No. 1 in the renowned design competition.    

 

The awards for the Automotive Brand Contest 2015 were presented on 15 September 2015 at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt/Main.

 

Not just able to repeat its triumph of the previous two years, Mercedes-Benz managed in 2015 to post a significant improvement by winning in eleven out of 15 categories – clear proof of the global popularity of its design.

Be it the new GLE Coupé SUV or the F 015 Luxury in Motion research vehicle, the Mercedes-AMG GT or the CLA Shooting Brake – the brand with the star finished clearly ahead of all the other automobile manufacturers at the Automotive Brand Contest 2015, being additionally voted “Brand of the Year” by the panel of judges.

Sensual purity as an expression of modern luxury: the judges were equally impressed by both the exterior and interior styling of the various Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

The brand was voted “Best of Best” no fewer than three times: the Mercedes-AMG GT sports car, the CLA Shooting Brake and the Future Truck 2025 led the field in the “Exterior Premium Brand” category. F 015 Luxury in Motion was hailed “Innovation of the Year”.

 

The first placers in the other categories:

  • Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupé: winner of “Exterior Premium Brand” and
    “Interior Premium Brand”
  • Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake: winner of “Interior Premium Brand”
  • Mercedes-Benz Vision G Code: winner of “Concepts”
  • Mercedes-Maybach S-Class: winner of “Interior Premium Brand” and
    special mention in “Exterior Premium Brand”

It was not just Mercedes-Benz, but also the design of the smart that succeeded in impressing the panel of judges. The smart fortwo received a special mention in the “Interior Premium Brand” category.

In addition, the modular “smart extended” trade fair system of Braunwagner GmbH was the recipient of no fewer than two awards, taking first place in the “Architecture & Events” category.

At the Iconic Awards, which will be presented on 5 October 2015 during the Expo Real trade fair in Munich, “smart extended” will receive the prize in the “Architecture Events/Exhibition” category.

 

Renowned design competition: the Automotive Brand Contest

The Automotive Brand Contest is held every year by the “German Design Council”, a foundation initiated by the German Bundestag. The highly respected design contest is the only neutral, international design competition for automotive brands and has very quickly established itself as one of the world’s major competitions in the auto industry.
