Portland, USA – Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) has received a major order for 75 Freightliner Business Class M2 106 type trucks. The customer is the American company Forestry Equipment of Virginia (FEVA), which specializes in equipping vehicles for use in the forestry sector and is the only manufacturer in the U.S. offering complete vehicles for use in this sector. FEVA equips the trucks for use in the forestry sector and thus takes over the final production phase of the truck assembly.
“The M2 106 is lightweight and sturdy, and is equipped with several features that are important to this industry,” says Melissa Clausen, director of product marketing for Freightliner Trucks. “The forestry sector is an emerging market for Freightliner, and we know that FEVA and its customers will be impressed with the Business Class M2 106,” continued Clausen.
The medium-duty Freightliner Business Class M2 106 has a large windshield, a low profile dash and sloped hood for superior visibility. Wide door openings and low step-in heights improve driver safety and comfort. A wheel cut of 55 degrees, the set back front axle, and special swept-back bumper contribute to the truck’s outstanding maneuverability, which is essential for applications in the forestry sector.
“Our customers require trucks that can withstand adverse, off-road conditions,” says Bob Dray, sales and marketing manager at FEVA. “From the aluminum chassis and the multiplex wiring system all the way to the safety functions — the Freightliner Business Class M2 106 offers everything we need,” says Dray.
Daimler Trucks North America, headquartered in Portland, Oregon, is the leading medium- and heavy-duty truck manufacturer in North America.
