Mercedes-Benz model campaign: the C-Class estate, S-Class coupé and CLS-Class

Mercedes-Benz S 63 AMG Coupé (C 217) 2014

Intense driving enjoyment and modern luxury

Stuttgart – On 27 September, Mercedes-Benz will be launching more exclusive lifestyle vehicles onto the market in the form of the new C-Class estate, the new S-Class coupé and the latest generation of the CLS.

The new products impress thanks to their sporty design, high-quality interiors and innovative technology, including new, efficient engines, a curve tilting function in the S-Class coupé and high-resolution MULTIBEAM LED headlamps in the CLS-Class to open up a whole new dimension of Slighting technology.

The AMG models of the CLS and SClass coupé, which are celebrating their market launches at the same time, are even more attractive and exude even more dynamism and sportiness.

The new C-Class estate stands out on account of its modern, dynamic design, which inspires emotion while also providing a demonstration of high-tech.

Customers can choose from two fronts – with the sports grille or – reserved solely for the EXCLUSIVE Line – the luxury grille with the Mercedes star on the bonnet. The car shows a high level of functionality and a high-quality interior.

With straightforward sportiness, thrilling flowing lines and high-grade materials, the lifestyle estate realises a modern, luxurious and at the same time sporty ambience.

Thanks to its increased wheelbase and greater width, the estate offers more space for passengers. The more sporty rear of the new C-Class estate provides a maximum load capacity of 1510 litres (according to ISO 3832), and features considerable improvements with respect to versatility and functionality.

After shedding up to 65 kilograms, the C-Class estate is the most lightweight car in its segment. The car offers an outstandingly comfortable ride, mainly thanks to the AIRMATIC pneumatic suspension being offered in this category for the first time, and stands out on account of its exceptional aerodynamics.

It features an optional headup display which projects important information directly into the driver’s field of vision, GPS-controlled climate control and a multi-functional touchpad that can be used to operate all of the head-up unit’s functions with one’s fingertips.

More incisive looks: the CLS Coupé and CLS Shooting Brake

The four-door CLS coupé and the CLS Shooting Brake now have even more dynamic exteriors. This is mainly thanks to an expressive diamond radiator grille and a pronounced front bumper featuring large air intake vents.

The impressive interior boasts generous spatial planning with sporty elegance, perfect craftsmanship, fine details and high-quality materials. The tone is set by a new, free-standing, colour, 8-inch (20.3-cm) display.

The new generation CLS-Class comes equipped with LED High Performance headlamps as standard. For the first time, Mercedes-Benz is offering the new MULTIBEAM LED headlamp technology as an option in order to automatically illuminate the road with unusual brightness and unprecedented precision with respect to the distribution of light without dazzling other road users. Another technical ground-breaker is the nine-speed 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission for reduced fuel consumption, more convenient gear-changes and improved agility.

CLS 63 AMG – exceptional design and performance

It goes without saying that the AMG models also benefit from the innovations featured in the CLS. The four-door CLS 63 AMG coupé and Shooting Brake are now even sportier and more attractive. Visually, both AMG high-performance models look more dominant and athletic than before. The CLS’s strong output of up to 430 kW (585 hp) underscores its uniqueness with respect to the competition.

Engines – performance and efficiency

Three petrol and four diesel variants of the C-Class estate will be offered at first. The 220 BlueTEC and a v6 petrol engine with exhaust gas turbocharger in the CLS 400 are recent additions to the CLS family. A total of three diesel and two petrol engines are offered.

First-class – the Mercedes-Benz S-Class coupé

With its breath-taking design and cultivated sportiness, the new MercedesBenz S-Class coupé marks a new emotional highlight in the history of automobile manufacturing. The vehicle’s unique appearance is underscored by expressive LED High Performance headlamps, each featuring 47 Swarovski crystals on request.

The interior of the S-Class coupé is luxurious and comfortable. Particularly striking: a generous, two-part widescreen TFT display. Optional extras include the AIR BALANCE package with fragrancing and ionisation, additional air filtration in the form of an active charcoal filter, and heated armrests. At the same time, the S-Class coupé is the world’s quietest series-production car in terms of wind noise.

It also surprises with its cutting-edge technology, for example the optional MAGIC BODY CONTROL suspension system with a curve tilting function that takes driving enjoyment and comfort to a new level. A head-up display and touchpad are also available on request. In the S 500 coupé, a 4,663 cm3 V8 biturbo engine with an output of 335 kW (455 hp) provides a high level of sporty performance.

The new dream cars in the form of the two AMG models supplement the family of S-Class coupés with their irresistible presence, masterful sportiness and even more improved driving dynamics. With an output of 430 kW (585 hp), the Mercedes-Benz S 63 AMG coupé’s AMG 5.5 litre V8 biturbo engine achieves outstanding performance with relatively low figures for fuel consumption. The S 65 AMG coupé is even more exclusive with its AMG 6.0 litre V12 biturbo engine that has an output of 463 kW (630 hp).

The usual high Mercedes standard of safety

The C-Class estate, the new S-Class coupé and the latest generation of the CLS offer the highest standard of safety. Among other systems, COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS is part of the standard equipment. It can help to avoid rear-end collisions – by way of autonomous brake application if necessary. A number of other assistance systems are also available on request.

The price of the C-Class estate starts from EUR 35,224.00 for the C 180. The price of the CLS coupé starts from EUR 54,085.50, while the CLS Shooting Brake can be bought for EUR 55,989.50 or more. The S-Class coupé is being offered for prices starting from EUR 125,961.50. All prices include VAT
