TEST: C320 CDI
C320 CDI
I love this car I really do. I wasn’t much of a C-Class fan until the facelift made it much better. And now, with this engine under the hood, the cars kicks so much ass. Under the hood is the new 3.0 V6 CDI diesel engine with 224-horsepower and 510 Nm (376 lb/ft) of torque. Mated to the 7Gtronic, it can reach 62 mph in just 6.9 seconds according to MB. But when you put the pedal to the metal, this things rips off like crazy. Imagin 376 lb/ft in a C-Class: you get the picture! The car is very agile and fast and the diesel engine is very quiet too. These qualities are further backed by superb handling: the steering feel is direct and weighted and very responsive to my input. Great car. You guys in America don’t know what you’re missing. “Hey Wimmer, we have the C350!” C350? <——LMAO! A joke…a joke…
This S-Class still uses the old 3.2-l inline-6 CDI engine, but it’s no slouch either. It’s got power alright, despite 204-hp and 500 Nm (369 lb/ft) sounding “modest” these days (well the horsepower rating). The torque helps it accelerate to 60 in the low 8’s. Midrange power is badass. It’s not a very sporty car, but where the S-Class impresses me is in its effortless comfort and cruising abilities. It feels solid and well placed on ever road and is very comfortable. On the inside, the cabin is very quiet at almost any speed. I love driving this S320 CDI. S-Class driving is fun. In extreme curves, the car is hard to control because it wasn’t intended for this type of driving.
